Muž, još jedan kuranski naslednik, nasleđuje jednu polovinu u odsustvu deteta ili unuka sa očeve strane i jednu četvrtinu ako ima deteta ili unuka sa očeve strane. "A za njih je jedna četvrtina onoga što ostavljaš za sobom ako nisi imao dete, ali ako imaš dete, onda je za njim jedna osmina onoga što ostavljaš za sobom..." (Kuran 4:12) Takav stav nam daje pravilo dela žene (udovice). Deo žene jeste jedna četvrtina ako nema deteta ili unuka sa očeve strane a jedna osmina ako ima deteta ili unuka sa očeve strane.
