    <ns1:description language="sr">Poređenje oksidativno-reduktivnog stanja malignih i benignih tumora je ključno za razumevanje uloge reaktivnih vrsta koje nastaju kao derivati kiseonika u patofiziologiji agresivnih tipova tumora. Poredili smo sisteme antioksidativne zaštite u visokomalignom tumoru - multiformnom glioblastomu (GBM) i meningeomu, benignom tumoru mozga.
Biohemijskim analizama obuhvaćeni su uzorci tumorskog tkiva i krvi 67 pacijenata sa GBM-om i 67 pacijenata sa meningeomom, kao i uzorak krvi 30 pacijenata koji su činili kontrolnu grupu.
Komponente sistema glutationa, koji je odgovoran za uklanjenje H2O2 pokazao je nižu aktivnost/nivo kod GBM-a: glutation peroksidaza (GBM: 9.90 ± 0.22; meningeom: 11.78± 0.23 U/mg proteina; P &lt; 0.001), glutation reduktaza (GBM: 3.83 ± 0.13; meningeom: 4.67 ± 0.11 U/mg proteina; P &lt; 0.001); i glutation (GBM: 6.70 ± 0.12; meningeom: 7.58 ± 0.14 μmol/g tkiva; P &lt; 0.001). Nasuprot tome, odnos aktivnosti glutation reduktaze i glutationa u eritrocitima su: GBM &gt; meningeom &gt; kontrolna grupa. Aktivnost superoksid dizmutaze i katalaze bile su niže u krvi pacijenata sa malignim tumorom u poređenju sa kontrolnom grupom.
Ćelije malignih tumora pokazuju nishodnu reguliciju sistema antioksidaze koji može dovesti do povišenih nivoa H2O2 u poređenju sa tkivom benignih tumora.</ns1:description>
    <ns1:description language="en">Comparison of redox conditions in malignant and benign tumours is essential for understanding the role of reactive oxygen species in the pathophysiology of aggressive cancer profiles. We compared antioxidative systems in highly malignant brain tumour - glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), and in meningioma, a benign brain tumour.
Tumour tissues and blood of 67 GBM patients and 67 meningioma patients and blood of 30 control subjects were analysed via biochemical assays.
Components of glutathione system, which is responsible for H2O2 removal, showed lower activity/level in GBM: glutathione peroxidase (GBM: 9.90 ± 0.22; meningioma: 11.78± 0.23 U/mg of proteins; P &lt; 0.001), glutathione reductase (GBM: 3.83 ± 0.13; meningioma: 4.67 ± 0.11 U/mg of proteins; P &lt; 0.001); and glutathione (GBM: 6.70 ± 0.12; meningioma: 7.58 ± 0.14 μmol/g of tissue; P &lt; 0.001). In contrast, the rank order of glutathione reductase activity and glutathione level in erythrocytes was: GBM &gt; meningioma &gt; control. Superoxide dismutase and catalase activities were lower in the blood of cancer patients compared to controls.
