Hilka was the most active in the field of research of the old French and Medieval Latin literature. 
Hilka also published many richly annotated editions of important texts of Medieval Latin poetry.

Hilka je bio najaktivniji u oblasti istraživanja stare francuske i srednjovekovne latinske književnosti. Takođe, objavio je i dosta bogato anotiranih izdanja važnih tekstova srednjovekovne latinske poezije.
