o:727 The history of Alexander the Great, being the Syriac version of the Pseudo-Callisthenes The history of Alexander the Great, being the Syriac version of the Pseudo-Callisthenes en A critical edition of the Syriac version of the Alexander romance, with an English translation, notes and the copious introduction by an English orientalist E. A. Wallis Budge (1857–1934). The Syriac version of the Alexander romance is made in Late Antiquity and it is one of the oldest. Budge was curator of Egyptian and Assyrian antiquities at the British Museum. He published many works on the ancient Near East, including translations of ancient texts such as the Egyptian Book of the Dead.
