Овако конципирана тема замишљена је као основ за истраживање веза између методологије израде тезаурусних речника и одговарајућих нивоа дескриптивног нормирања који са њима стоје у вези. У раду полазимо од представе о Речнику САНУ као делу које свестрано обрађује лексички фонд српског језика и садржи специфичан систем лингвистичких знања о његовој форми и функцијама . У складу са том представом , овај речник сагледавамо кроз два аспекта : 1) историјски , као подухват прикупљања репрезентативног корпуса књижевног и народног језика 19. и 20. века и процес формирања емпиријских увида о лексичком систему на основу тог корпуса , и 2) лексикографски , као пројекат обраде и системског представљања лексике према нивоима њене реализације . Циљ нам је био да у детаљном опису историјата Речника САНУ истакнемо филолошко - лингвистичке принципе који су се показали пресудни за његову стандардолошку улогу у језику , као и да , на основу тих принципа , укажемо на конкретна системска решења у његових 18 до сада објављених томова која су се показала релевантна за стандардизацију теоријског описа српског језика. This doctoral dissert ation explores the Dictionary of Serbo-Croatian Literary and Vernacular Language of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, as the most significant venture in contemporary Serbian lexicogr aphy, and its impact on the process of standardization of the Se rbian language in the 19 th and the 20 th century. Set within this framework, the dissertation is aimed to provi de the basis for the examination of the relationship between the methods for compili ng thesaurus-type dictionaries and the corresponding levels of descriptive norm. The dissertation is based on the view regarding the Dictionary of the Serbian Academy as an authoritative reference work with an extens ive treatment of the Serbian lexical stock and a specific set of linguistic distin ctions related to their form, meaning and function. Following that view, we approached the analysis of the Dictionary from two aspects: 1) historical, regarding it not only as a vast project of building a represen tative corpus of Serbian literary and vernacular language of the 19 th and the 20 th century, but also as an evolution of empirical findings concerning the lexical syst em based on the corpus, and 2) lexicographic, viewing it as a presentation of a systematic lexicographi c treatment of lexis ac cording to levels of linguistic realization. In presenting the historical development of the Dictionary of the Serbian Academy, our purpose was to bring to light the philo logical and linguistic tenets which have proved to be crucial for its role in the standa rdization of the Serbian language, as well as to point to particular systematic procedures appl ied in the existing eight een volumes, which have shown themselves to be relevant to the standardization of the theoretical description of the Serbian language.
