<dc:description xml:lang="eng">Abstract: With the increasing need for information, networks like Wikipedia have become
necessary to gather knowledge. This thesis is about how those problems could be solved with
the use of new technologies and what are the main differences between Wikipedia and
Everipedia. Everipedia is the first online encyclopedia that stores information using blockchain.
The main idea was to make a decentralized network for information sharing. Every approved
article on this platform will get an “IQ” token to motivate editors. With the expansion of the
network, the value of IQ should rise. After voting, if the overall score is positive, the author
will be rewarded with a certain amount of IQ. Wikipedia is the most extensive online
encyclopedia that internet users can freely edit. It is a multilingual project in about 300
languages with over 6 million articles in English. To ensure information relativity, every article
editor has to give references. Research hasshown that Wikipedia has excellent use in education.
Many students said that writing articles for Wikipedia is a lot more interesting than writing
regular seminar papers. This paper will show the technical features, advantages, and
disadvantages of the technologies on which Wikipedia and Everipedia are based. Special
attention will be given to how those technologies could be linked to the educational process.</dc:description>
