<dc:description xml:lang="srp">Sažetak: Rad Eufemistički ekvivalenti u jeziku štampe
u srpskom i engleskom jeziku iz oblasti morfo-
semantike bavi se analizom eufemističkih
parnjaka koji se mogu naći u specifičnom jeziku
štampanih me-
dija odnosno internet štampi na srpskom i
engleskom jeziku. Temelji se na proučavanju i
poređenju eufemističkih jezičkih konstrukcija sa
sociolingvističkog aspekta, zasnovanog na
pretpostavci da srpski i engleski jezik sadrže
veliki broj eufemizama i da se u određenom
stepenu
podudaraju. Poređenjem tekstova iz štampe na
srpskom i engleskom jeziku dolazimo do zaključka
da pored potpunog slaganja eufemizama u oba
jezika, javlja se i delimično slaganje gde je koren
srpske reči u engleskom, a da je sam termin
modifikovan u različitom stepenu, kao i potpuno
neslaganje gde eufemizmi u srpskom nemaju koren
u engleskom.

<dc:description xml:lang="eng">Abstract: This paper examines euphemisms and politically correct expressions
used in the language of newspapers, online editions, in Serbian and English,
by means of comparison. It is shown that the similarities between these two
languages, regarding euphemistic constructions, may be gradable which
depends on whether they share the same root in the same language or not.
Mostly, euphemisms used in Serbian have their counterparts in English, either
adopted via process of borrowing or having origin in the foreign expression.
They completely match since they are literal loan translations (calques). Partial
matching is also possible in cases where the origin of the phrase is in English,
but the phrase itself is changed to some extent in Serbian due to different reasons
– linguistic, social, or other. There is also absolute discordance of English and
Serbian euphemisms, meaning they do not share the same root.</dc:description>
