Usled neadekvatnog modela privatizacije i neodgovarajuće
ekonomske politike, nivo prerađivačke industrije Srbije još uvek se nalazi ispod 50%
nivoa ostvarenog 1989. godine. U prerađivačkoj industriji i dalje dominiraju nedovoljno
oporavljena bivša društvena preduzeća.</dc:description>

This paper analyzes production potentials of Serbian manufacturing industry at beginning
of second wave of transition in order to give an answer to the question about possibility
of avoiding unsatisfactory results of production recovery during transition period. For that
cause, we provided an overview of industrial capacities value and its utilization at begin-
ning of transition period, considered potentials which Serbia has and which can use for
production growth, and we analyzed business results of privatized industrial enterprises
in the period 2002-2012. Due to inadequate privatization model and inappropriate eco-
nomic policy, Serbian manufacturing industry level is still below 50% of level achieved
in 1989. Manufacturing industry is still dominated by insufficiently recovered former
socially-owned enterprises.</dc:description>
