Usled rastuće globalizacije u poslednje dve decenije su međunarodna preuzimanja po-
stala česta strategija internacionalizacije poslovanja. Ova strategija internacionalizacije
je nakon globalne ekonomske krize iz 2008. godine postala česta i u mnogim tehnološki
i kapitalno intenzivnim industrijama, kao što je auto industrija. Pored ekonomske nei-
zvesnosti nastale usled krize, auto kompanije su se suočile i sa radikalnim inovacijama
u oblasti digitalizacije i elektrifikacije vozila, što je kompanije dodatno podstaklo da raz-
motre svoje restruktiruriranje kroz međunarodna preuzimanja. Ovaj rad analizira među-
narodna preuzimanja u auto industriji u drugoj deceniji 21. veka, i nastoji da identifikuje
koji su motivi auto-kompanija da se opredele za međunarodne akvizicije. U radu se na primeru PSA-FCA analizira uloga međunarodnih preuzimanja u uslovima tehnoloških i
ekonomskih neizvesnosti. Primer je značajan jer su i PSA i FCA nakon globalne eko-
nomske krize realizovali po jedno preuzimanje, da bi na kraju 2020. godine kompanije
odlučile da se spoje u novu pod imenom Stellantis, kako bi odgovorile na rastuće tehno-
loške neizvesnosti u oblasti elektrifikacije i digitalizacije vozila, ali i neizvesnosti nastale
usled globalne pandemije. Na navedenom primeru i kroz dostupne sekundarne podatke
prikupljene iz poslovnih izveštaja kompanija i stručnih analiza auto kompanija u radu je
pokazano da udruživanje kompetencija u oblasti istraživanja i razvoja i podizanje troškov-
ne efikasnosti predstavljaju glavni motiv za međunarodna preuzimanja u auto industriji, u
periodima visoke neizvesnosti, iako je ova strategija restrukturiranja poslovanja skopčana
sa visokim rizicima.</ns1:description>

Due to the growing globalization in the last two decades, cross-border acquisitions have
become a frequent internationalization strategy. Since the 2008 global economic crisis,
the strategy has become common in many technology- and capital-intensive industries,
such as the auto industry. In addition to the economic uncertainty caused by the crisis,
automotive companies have also faced radical innovations in the field of digitalisation
and electrification, which has further encouraged companies to consider their restruc-
turing through cross-border acquisitions. This paper analyzes cross-border acquisitions
in the automotive industry in the second decade of the 21st century auto companies’
motives to realize cross-border acquisitions. The paper analyzes the role of international
acquisitions under technological and economic uncertainties on the example of PSA-
FCA. The example is significant because both PSA and FCA realized one acquisition after
the global economic crisis, and at the end of 2020 the companies decided to merge into
a new one called Stellantis, in order to respond to growing technological uncertainties in
the field of electrification and digitalization of vehicles. but also the uncertainties caused
by the global pandemic. The case study showed that pooling research and development
competencies and raising cost efficiencies are the main motives for international acqui-
sitions in the automotive industry, in periods of high uncertainty, although this business
restructuring strategy is characterized with high risks.</ns1:description>
