U stvari, jedna široko rasprostranjena tradicija jeste da mlada prosi mladoženju kao što je to učinila Hadidža, Muhamedova prva žena, koja je zaprosila proroka. Po još jednoj tradiciji koja je široko rasprostranjena mlada i mladoženja izgovaraju sledeću frazu: "U tradiciji proroka slažem se da... itd." Certain facts do not mean, however, that there are no traditions that accompany marriages in Sunni Islam.
