Развојем херитологије, као науке о баштини, указано је на аксиолошку промену предмета баштињења, од бића ка битку, односно од предмета као носиоца значења ка сведочанствености, те смо сматрали да је теоријски оквир науке о баштини потребно проверити на примеру споменичког наслеђа. Овај рад настаје на трагу идеје да се истраживањем досадашњих пракси баштињења споменичког наслеђа, које временом конституишу појам баштине, може створити целовитија слика о ранијим културним приликама и моделима очувања баштине која може утицати на стварање ефикаснијег модела баштињења данас и убудуће. Црква Богородице Љевишке у Призрену као споменик дугог трајања се указала као добар пример за испитивање ове претпоставке јер својом богатом историјом ставља пред истраживаче бројне недоумице по питању могућности и начина њеног очувања... A current approach to the preservation of historical monuments, which is a part of heritage in a wider sense, appears to be materialistic at first, even when the nature of a phenomenon that threatens the monument is of a different type. The development of heritology, being a heritage science, indicates the axiological change of heritage object, and subject of research, through the object – item relation, i.e. through the material object – attestative potential relation. In accordance with this, it appears necessary to challenge theoretical framework of heritology by considering the case of monumental heritage. This dissertation is based on the idea that the research of historical inheritance practices related to monumental heritage, which have led to the constitution of the notion of heritage, could provide a more complete insight into former cultural contexts and models of heritage preservation, which consequently may cause the development of a more efficient model of inheritance processes. The Church of the Holy Virgin of Ljeviš in Prizren, being a monument of long duration, is taken as a good example for testing this assumption, especially due to its rich and complex history and to the difficulties its current state poses to experts regarding the possibilities and ways of its preservation...
