The charophyte algae (Charophyceae, Charales) are macroscopic multicelular algae having morfologicaly complex talus.This group is underinvestigated at the territory of Serbia and all the species are classified in one of the IUCN categories. This study is an attempt to gather more knowledge on their floristic richness, distribution and ecology.
