Osnov takvih istraživanja čini određivanje sadržaja prirodnih radioaktivnih izotopa uranijuma i torijuma (i potomaka njihovih radioaktivnih serija: serija 238U, serija 235U i serija 232Th) u stenama, zatim izotopa kalijuma, rubidijuma itd, pošto njihovi prirodni radioaktivni izotopi spadaju u red najobilnijih radioizotopa na Zemlji. Po prirodnoj obilnosti prvi među njima je kalijum, sa obilnošću u zemljinoj kori (Klarkova vrednost) od 2,5 %, dok se uranijum i torijum pojavljuju kao elementi u tragovima, sa Klarkovim vrednostima oko 2,50 odnosno 13 mg kg-1, redom...</ns1:description>
    <ns1:description language="en">Investigation on the naturally occurring radionuclides (NORM) is of a great importance in many scientific areas, especially geology. The basis for such a research is generally the determination of radioactive elements of the natural radioactive series of uranium (the 238U and the 235U series) and thorium (232Th) in rocks, as well as the isotopes of potassium and rubidium, as the most abundant radioactive isotopes on Earth.
