This is the fact that Arabic is a "diglossic" language. Diglossia is a term meaning "two tongues". It was popularized by the Stanford University linguist Charles Ferguson in an important 1959 article where he described systematically for the first time a phenomenon that has existed throughout the history of human language (though not all the time in every linguistic community): the presence of two distinct languages, with separate syntactic and morphological structures, as part of the essential linguistic repertoire of a given single speech community. U pitanju je činjenica da je arapski jezik diglosije. Diglosija je termin koji znači dva jezika.
